The neighborhoods feature expansive lots built mostly on hillsides. They combine the sense of openness one would expect from country living with a strong sense of community and the convenience of being close to town.
 
Almonte and Homestead Valley have a diverse real estate mix with many stunning and distinctive homes. If you want the feeling of living in the countryside without sacrificing convenience, these neighborhoods offer an incredible lifestyle. Homestead Valley offers large lots, mid-century architecture, and a peaceful atmosphere that's just a quick bike ride from downtown. Its semi-rural ambiance is bolstered by open skies and access to scenic trails.
 
These neighborhoods are close to the Whole Foods Market and other businesses along Miller Avenue. The 2am Club is probably the best-known bar in Mill Valley. It’s been a favorite neighborhood gathering place since before prohibition, and it is featured on the cover of the Huey Lewis and the News’ album Sports. Miller Avenue is also home to the Marin Theatre Company and a great choice of international restaurants. Enjoy flavorful Puerto Rican cuisine at Sol Food, classic pizzas at Tamalpie, and frozen yogurt and ice cream at Mill Valley Swirl. Downtown Mill Valley is around 10 minutes away by car.
 
The Golden Gate Recreation Area extends over 82,000 acres to the west of these neighborhoods. Many miles of hiking trails run through the recreation area’s gorgeous natural scenery. Head west through this expanse of redwood groves to the sandy shoreline of Muir Beach on the Pacific Ocean coastline. There are lots of hiking trails within Almonte and Homestead Valley with a wealth of scenery to explore.
 
Homestead Valley Community Center hosts lots of local events throughout the year, and extensive renovation of the community center’s pool began in 2020.
 
Almonte and Homestead Valley are served by the Mill Valley Elementary School District and Tamalpais Union High School District.
