The Canyons and Middle Ridge are surrounded by stunning scenery to the west of Downtown Mill Valley, and living here feels like living in an enchanted forest. Homes are dotted along a year-round seasonal creek, nestled amongst towering redwood groves, and perched atop a mountainside facing majestic Mount Tamalpais.

Downtown Mill Valley offers a great selection of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. Mill Valley Market has been the community’s go-to grocery store since 1929. Sweetwater Music Hall showcases regular live music performances in an intimate setting. The local dining scene includes favorites such as refined Italian restaurant La Ginestra, creative Indian/Mexican fusion spot Avatar’s Punjabi Burritos, and authentic South East Asian eatery Boo Koo.

Homes within the Canyons and Middle Ridge neighborhoods are close to the 193-acre wilderness of Baltimore Canyon Preserve and the sprawling redwood forests of the 554-acre Muir Woods National Monument. Many trails run through both these nature preserves and take in some truly unforgettable scenery. The 30-foot Dawn Falls in Baltimore Canyon Preserve is breathtaking.

Muir Woods is one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s premier tourist destinations. Marine fog often rolls in from the ocean and gives its old-growth redwood groves a mystical atmosphere. The oldest trees are thought to be at least 1,200 years old, and the tallest soars to 258 feet high.

Creeks run through both Baltimore Canyon and Muir Woods and provide important nesting sites for salmon and sea otters. Many other native wildlife species live within these areas including more than 50 species of birds and 11 species of bats. These wildlife areas adjoin to the larger Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Muir Beach on the Recreation Area’s Pacific Ocean coastline is a beautiful unspoiled stretch of sandy shoreline.

The Canyons and Middle Ridge are served by Mill Valley Elementary School District and Tamalpais Union High School District.
